A Case of Total Carpectomy for Volkmann’s Ischemic Contracture

Abstract

|
It has been known that there are many Orthopedic procedures for correction of deformity due to Volkmann´s ischemic contracture. But the choice of treatment for this deformity is as yet controversial among the surgeons.
This paper presents one case of total carpectomy for flexion deformity of the wrist resulting from a supracondylar fracture of left humerus of a fifteen-year old student.
The follow-up period was 2 months and the patient was pleased with the end result of total carpectomy.
